Planning to visit one of the most visited islands in the Philippines, also known as the ‘Queen City of the South’ — CEBU? Best to do it this summer season where over 160 small islands are waiting for you at its best so you can have the best holiday getaway with your family and loved ones.
Discover Cebu and get ready to be struck in awe from its breathtaking sceneries in land and even underwater. An island full of exciting activities, mouth watering cuisines, and friendly locals. Because without a doubt, Cebu is a place that every local and tourist must visit once in a lifetime or more.
To share with you my unforgettable trip in Cebu, check below 5 places that will forever stay close to my heart.
TOP 5 TOURIST SPOTS IN CEBU
1. CANYONEERING + KAWASAN FALLS
One of the most thrilling adventures that I did was Canyoneering. A tiring yet satisfying activity where after a short work in a jungle path, you’ll get to fall in a beautiful turquoise blue water heading to Kawasan Falls each time you take the jump. It may be a tough 3–4 hours trek, falling and jumping from 10ft — 40ft high, a few slides, but trust me, it will all be worth it when you see what’s waiting for you on the end of the other line, the stunning 50ft Kawasan Falls.
2. OSLOB WHALE SHARKS
As travelers always say, your visit in Cebu will never be complete until you see it with your own eyes, the Whale Sharks of Oslob, Cebu. These Gentle Giants are just minutes away from the shore. You’ll just have to ride a small boat that will take you there along with your tour guide and other tourists. Just be sure to bring your snorkeling gear and underwater camera so you can catch the best shots of these Gentle Giants while they come up close because the local farmers are feeding them.
3. SUMILON ISLAND SANDBAR
Another famous attraction in Cebu is the Sumilon Island Sandbar. A small but stunning Island with clear blue waters and pristine white sands, PLUS a picturesque sandbar. Tourists can enjoy a day trip, free lunch and various activities like snorkeling, paddling, hiking, fishing, sunbathe, and so much more. And if it turns out that you want to spend the night in Sumilon Island, there’s only one thing left to do, book your stay in Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort.
4. SARDINES RUN IN MOALBOAL
Wondering what’s waiting from you in Moalboal, Cebu? Millions of sardines swimming with you. Can you believe it? A once in a lifetime and surreal experience where you find yourself in awe snorkeling in crystal clear water surrounded with millions of them. What makes it more unforgettable is that, even with the high tides and strong waves, you can’t stop yourself from wanting to see them all the time because sardines don’t leave the area of Moalboal. And if you’re lucky just like us, you might come across sea turtles.
5. SIRAO FLOWER GARDEN
Tired of all the water activities you’ve made so far and just wanted to relax and appreciate the beauty of nature? Head to the ‘Little Amsterdam of Cebu’ and get to see the different colors of Celosia Flowers, native to tropical America & Africa (Burlas in local dialect). A garden full of colorful red, yellow, orange, and purple flowers, man-made replicas of Dutch windmills, a viewing deck, cool breeze of the wind, and breathtaking view on top.
